It’s that time of year where spring cleaning should be well underway. Here at 118group, we’d like to give you seven tips for spring cleaning for your own business.

1) Professional Affiliations and Licenses

If you are a licensed professional, you may want to inquire about updating your licenses, or enrolling in Continuing Education Classes. Renewing all your professional memberships may also be in order. Finally, consider contacting your Attorney and your Accountant to see what planning you may be able to do for the year.

2) Marketing Materials

Have a look at your business cards, website, and marketing materials. Does it reflect the current state of your profession? How does it measure against your competitors? Do you still offer all of the products and services on these materials? Does it list any new ones?

3) Explore New Relationships

Look through your vendor list. Have someone who’s not just delivering to your standards? Consider branching out and finding new professionals in your network who can help you deliver the best possible products and services to your customers.

4) Remove Unnecessary Clutter

In business, it’s easy to have plenty of unnecessary clutter collect overtime. Take a day to clean out your files and your desk. Once your physical space is free of unneeded memos and documents and other clutter, move on to the digital space. Clean out your email inbox. Try to make your inbox as empty as possible, moving important emails into folders.

5) Get Organized

Once you have only what you need, it’s important to get everything filed away properly and organized so you can find it easily later. Make sure that all of your necessary documents are in their proper place and easy to access. So much time is lost when trying to hunt something down that you misplaced.

Also, this would be a good time to make sure your client lists are up to date. Go through your address book and see who’s still in business. Maybe sent out emails to those you haven’t heard from in a while and make sure their addresses are still good! You may find some people that you even forgot about.

6) The Cloud and CRM Are Where It’s At!

With the growing popularity of Google Drive, CRM, and other cloud storage solutions, it’s very easy to file important documents online. This way, they can be accessed from anywhere. Also, it’s important to have whatever you may have in hardcopy as a digital copy, as well, whether those are client contracts, invoices, and the like. 7) Encourage Employee Participation

If you have employees in your business, you should have them participate in the spring cleaning. Set aside a day sometime soon to have everyone pull everything together and get rid of anything no longer needed anymore.
